A BIT ABOUT ME
Hi I’m Rachel and I am the owner of FIZZICAL FITNESS.
I believe there is nothing better than the feeling of being fit and healthy – like you are fizzing with energy! My desire is to help my clients feel that way every day.
Who am I and why should you choose me as your trainer?

My journey started in high school where I LOVED sport, even though I wasn’t the athletics champion (nor was I naturally skinny and fit!). I did get up early most mornings for a run before Aerobics Oz Style or cross country training at school because it made me feel good. I liked the endorphins and adrenaline rush (plus I noticed a change in my weight!). This progressed to Group Fitness Classes at the local recreation centre where I would go to break up my study days during my TEE (Year 12). From then I was hooked, and it didn’t take long before the manager suggested I sign up for my first Les Mills module training in Body Pump. This is a barbell weight training class to music and involves using all muscle groups and completing about 800 reps per session. My second (Body Step) was only a few months after, and I thrived on teaching groups of people ways to improve their fitness. I loved it!
I studied Health Science and Commerce at the University of WA, and majored in Public Health, Human Movement & Exercise Science and Marketing. During this time I also completed my Certificate 3 in Fitness at the Australian Institute of Fitness. My final practicum was in Community Recreation where I developed program cards for Group Fitness Clients. I continued to work here and did some short stints (I couldn’t handle the food or lifestyle) as a Health and Lifestyle Coordinator at two mine sites before moving into Health Promotion.
I headed to the Department of Sport and Recreation and quickly progressed to the Premiers Physical Activity Taskforce where I was Project Manager for ‘The Giant Walk’. I then took on a role at Royal Life Saving Society once the project was over and remained there for a year before being pulled back into Education. In the meantime, I had picked up a third (and fourth) Les Mills Program – Body Attack, a high intensity sports inspired program that develops strength and stamina. I was teaching 6-10 classes per week, making contact with almost 150 people weekly. My love for fitness shone through during my education practicum where I was told by my mentors that they believed fitness was where my future was at. I started planning FIZZICAL FITNESS during my last months at university – for the first time I knew what I really wanted to do!
FIZZICAL FITNESS started in November 2009 and has been growing steadily ever since. Many of my clients have been with me from the beginning. I offer Personal and Group Training Sessions and have had over 150 clients. I still continue to teach Les Mills Classes (and just added CX WORX to my repertoire) as I am extremely passionate about them and I love the variety between choreographed indoor classes versus boot camp style outdoor training. I do casual hours at Lorna Jane Booragoon where I am in contact with women, local gyms, suppliers all surrounding health and fitness. I love the Lorna Jane MOVE NOURISH BELIEVE principles and apply them to my way of life too. I enjoy exercising with others and on my own, I like the participation and the competition (and of course the results). I look for ways to challenge myself and completed 4 half marathons in 2011, completed 2 advanced instructor modules in 2012, and another in 2013.
I am extremely passionate about Health and have learnt a lot from Naturopaths, Homeopaths, Chinese Herbalists and Remedial Therapists over the years. I am not someone who ignores my body, I strive to look for the underlying causes and ways to overcome it naturally. I believe my personal success has come from long term attention to my health and wellness.
I believe that being healthy and fit is not somewhere or something that is temporary – it is not an island you visit for a week or two (imagine the flight prices!). Your health is a lifelong journey that requires attention – not too much and not too little. I believe that to find the real you, you need to find balance – look at the physical, mental and emotional components of your health to find harmony. I cannot give you the answer, but, I can teach you how to find it.
